by Claire Heinichen 5/15/2017 Powers Boothe, the Emmy-winning actor who portrayed the memorable and often villainous Lamar Wyatt on Nashville, died Sunday night (May 14) at age 68. The patriarch of the Wyatt family had a strained relationship with his daughter Rayna Jaymes for the show’s first two seasons, where they often fought over the time she devoted to her music and her family life. Wyatt also helped Jaymes’ first husband Teddy Conrad become Nashville’s mayor. He left the series in 2014. Boothe, also known for his work in TV’s Deadwood and films such as Tombstone, Sin City and The Avengers, died of natural causes at his home in Los Angeles, his publicist said. The cast of the show remembers Boothe fondly, having spent two years getting to know the man behind Lamar. Charles Esten, who portrays Deacon Claybourne, posted a video to Instagram of Boothe from the show’s season […]
by Claire Heinichen 17h ago Even during a long day on the Nashville set, Charles Esten always makes time for his fans. One of our favorite ways he interacts with the Nashies is something he calls “#EstensQuestions”, where he records video responses to fan questions on Twitter. On Tuesday (April 18), Esten spent his time between takes answering fans’ questions about the show, his music and everything in between. Check out some of the highlights: What is like on set without Connie Britton? What inspires the songs he writes? What is his favorite place in Nashville? What does he draw on for performing heartbreaking scenes? Don’t miss the mid-season premiere of Nashville Thursday, June 1 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. by Sarah Essary 12h ago Jennifer Holland, who plays Becky Phillips on Sun Records, never thought she’d be part of the original series. Interestingly, she also never thought she’d land a role where she’d play such a deeply-written character. Holland is clearly made for the role and she knocked it out of the park this season portraying the strong housewife who “took care of the crazy, creative, insane person that was Sam Phillips.” CMT.com: What drew you to this project? Holland: This was so different than anything I’ve done before, you know. Mostly what you are allowed to do, when you are a young attractive woman in Hollywood, is very contemporary exploitation of your looks and all that. There’s a lot of work out there for young actresses that isn’t deeply written. So when I got this, I was like, “No one’s going to let me play this character. There’s […]
